Old Amsterdam won silver medal in Russia
First Russian quality prize for Old Amsterdam
The annual international quality contest taking place during Prodexpo, is organized by the Russian Ministry of Agriculture in order to promote foreign producers and stimulate export to Russia. An expert jury representing the ministry judged 206 exhibits on taste, packaging and appearance. Old Amsterdam was the only lucky Dutch cheese maker to carry off a prize.
This stroke of luck means a lot to the brand – that has been exporting cheese to Russia since 2008. ‘The prize indicates that Old Amsterdam is a premium and unique product to the Russian market and scores high in quality’, according to Dennis Dmitriev from Rusar Trade enabling export from Russia. ‘We expect to grow considerably in this field. The middle class in Russia only goes for the best and a premium brand like Old Amsterdam perfectly matches the trend.
Old Amsterdam earlier won gold eight times during the international food contest Deutsche Landwirtschafts-Gesellschaft and was the lucky winner of two golden medals during the prestigious World Cheese Awards. In Brussels, 2011, the cheese brand won the Superior Taste Award plus the Chrystal Award for the third time.
