Old Amsterdam Belegen wins Product of the Year award

Our mature gouda Old Amsterdam Belegen was proud to receive the award of ‘Product of the Year 2021’ in the cheese category. These Products of the Year are chosen each year by a poll of more than 10,000 consumers. The Old Amsterdam Belegen mature gouda recipe is based on the award-winning, traditional recipe of Old Amsterdam Original but has a milder taste than the one that consumers of Old Amsterdam are familiar with. These milder layers of taste are what sets Old Amsterdam Belegen apart from other mature cheeses, which traditionally have a somewhat flatter flavour profile. 

The competition to choose the Product of the Year uses an independent and representative survey carried out by a panel of 10,000 consumers, who assess products by three criteria: appeal, perceived innovation and likelihood to buy. In addition, the product is tasted in a real consumption scenario by more than 120 families, who also judge the product on its flavour. It also means that from today, Westland Kaas’s latest newcomer product, mature gouda Old Amsterdam Belegen, can bear the logo ‘Product of the Year 2021’. This award shows how the consumer appreciates our quality and demonstrates that thousands of consumers find Old Amsterdam Belegen both appealing and innovative, based on their own experience of tasting and using it.
